In total, the archipelago extends over 5 nautical miles, with a total of 19 hectares emerged, of which 14 correspond to the Illa Grossa, where the lighthouse is located Columbretes, which is the only inhabited. The 67 meter high mountain of the lighthouse is the highest altitude of the archipelago.

Resting on a fund located approximately 80 meters deep, the Columbretes represent the best example of volcanism of our land, easily appreciated by the materials that form them, as for its peculiar appearance. Highlights l'Illa Grossa, craters formed by several chains, and Carallot, which, with its 32 meters above the sea, is the geological evidence of the remains of the central chimney of a volcano.
The party emerged is a Nature Reserve and is protected by the Ministry of Environment, Water, Planning and Housing since 1988. Marine Reserve that surrounds the archipelago is managed by the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine since 1990, currently has an area of 5,543
