The Spaniards, the first to occupy the islands joined together after English, French, Dutch and Danes that have fragmented the West Indies colonies and involved in several European wars still subjecting them to constant changes of governor. Some were taken by pirates whose bases were the most famous Tortuga, pero the north coast of Haiti and in Jamaica in Kingston.

According to the latitude, the climate is tropical with average daytime temperature ranging from 25 to 26 to 30 degrees Celsius in the Earth, while back in the water ranges from 24 º C and 27 ° C. The infant formula of the trade winds in northern and eastern parts of the island and the constant change of land and sea breezes to the south and west make it quite bearable even the highest summer temperatures.

Between May and November rainfall appear stronger, although the amount of rainfall varies from region to region. Less rain from December to April which is also the time of year where the temperatures are lower.
